What to do, What to do...

DING! I'll start a blog.

My current status, "actively seeking employment," (not "unemployed," of course) has freed up some time.  When I'm not sending out mass numbers of resumes to every possible position that I am qualified for (which isn't many, I suppose), I have absolutely nothing to do.  Vince does his homework, studies Greek, and reads and oftentimes I try and do the assignments too, just to see if I can.  My mom always reminds me of my love of learning. I think I just resort to it under dire circumstances, namely boredom.  This morning I decided I wanted the rest of the world, or maybe just my mother and grandmother, to read about my daily life.  I could make it interesting; I'll write about my job hunt or the divine Alfredo pasta I made for dinner last night. Maybe I'll post a YouTube video. OOooo...

It could almost be too riveting.

One thing I do know:
I am blessed.  That word "blessed" encompasses a whole gamut of emotions for me.  Not only do I have the greatest husband, we have food on the table.  Not only do I have an incredibly supportive family, but we even have a roof over our heads.  God is so good.  Even through this season of unemployment I have seen His provision.  Even through this time of uncertainty I can lean on His unchanging promises. 

That's what I'll do: I'll lean.

So humbled by everyone's response and prayers. All of you can help spread the word about lip and tongue tie to those you know. Two days ago I went to the Lactation Care Center and my suspicions about both Cora's weight gain and her lip tie were confirmed. She had only gained under 6 oz in 15 days. Not good. And she is hungry, but my milk supply was withering. My lactation consultant said that she does, in fact, have at least a lip tie, if not both lip and tongue as well as a moderately high palette. See, when a baby latches improperly and doesn't empty the breast completely you stop producing as much milk. At this point a good latch and transfer of milk is difficult because of her anatomy. We got set up with an electric double pump yesterday and we are both trying to build up my supply and get her what she needs. Coffee Shop Encouragement

While we were sitting in a coffee shop in Shingle Springs, CA working on mail chimp, reading church planting books and taking notes, we met Barry and Jerri. They'd been up and down, on the phone and in intense conversations when Barry popped over to our table to see what we were working on.  "We love Jesus and He's called us to Utah to tell people about Him," I shared. "Do you know Jesus?" I asked.  "Yes! Oh, do we!" He resounded.  They had grown up in Southern California during the Jesus Movement and had followed Him closely ever since. As a gardener, he knows a thing or two about cultivating and climates, not so different from a relationship with Jesus and navigating these days. Currently, they are working on a solution for her mom's living situation as age and medical concerns have caused a need for change.  We prayed for each other and encouraged each other and thanked God for being with us through all of life's ups and downs. Looking to Jesus

I have this problem. Generally, its called sin. Specifically, its called believing false things about myself and my Lord and Savior.  I picture it as looking at things other than Jesus. My eyes often stray from Him, the founder and perfecter of my faith, to, say, lies of the Enemy.  Lately these lies have been debilitating.  When my eyes shift, things become disproportionate.  My perspective becomes distorted. I look at myself as a failure. I believe that lie. Then I begin to wrench my neck around to see more.  I see my situation as hopeless.  I believe that lie.  I take a step to turn myself around so I can get a better picture of what else I am supposed to see. I am already walking the other direction when I realize how low and discouraged I have become.  My head is down.  All I can see are lies.  Only darkness.  Everything feels heavy and unbearable.
